Auro Technologies trusts StormAudio® to develop the first ever Immersive Sound Receiver: the “Auro-3D® Auriga™”

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 4 February 2014 – StormAudio and Auro Technologies  introduce the Auro-3D® Auriga™ at the ISE tradeshow in Amsterdam.
This first 3D Integrated Surround Sound Processor is aimed at those customers demanding the highest standards of sound in 3D by adding a height layer of speakers to achieve full Auro-3D® performance, and is the result of an agreement between Digital Media Solutions® and Auro Technologies NV for StormAudio® to develop this breakthrough product. The term “Immersive Sound” was first used to describe sound in 3D (adding Height) by Auro Technologies, referring to the fact that with Auro-3D® sound, consumers have the experience that ambient sounds are truly coming from all around and above, providing them with the most true-to-life reproduction of sound. This experience is fundamentally different from (2D) Surround sound, which does not allow sounds from objects or reflections to be reproduced in three-dimensional space. The Auro-3D® sound puts the listener right into the heart and middle of the action as if he/she was really there.

Auro3D Auriga

“The Auriga™ is a milestone for home theater. It is the first device that can deliver true native sound in 3D from a standard Blu-ray™, thanks to the Auro-3D® technology. Having established the Auro-3D® format in digital cinema with Barco with 400 screens confirmed worldwide, our partnership with StormAudio is now bringing the Auro-3D® immersive experience to consumers,” says Wilfried Van Baelen, inventor of the Auro-3D® format and CEO of Auro Technologies. “With more and more blockbuster movies and albums being recorded in Auro-3D®, the Auriga will allow people to experience immersive sound from films like The Amazing Spiderman 2 in the home.”

Based on specifications from Auro Technologies, the product has been entirely designed and manufactured by StormAudio, the Residential Division of Digital Media Solutions Group, based on its recognized In-House experience in 3D Surround Sound Processors and Multi-Channel Amplifier technologies.

The Auro-3D® Auriga™ delivers stunning performance, supporting the full complement of the Auro-3D® Engine, including the Auro-Codec® Decoder for native playback and Auro-Matic® 3D, converting any existing 5.1 or 7.1, standard Surround, Stereo and Mono content into an Auro-3D® experience. 12 channels of x 200 Watts of continuous power are provided onboard to drive the loudspeaker playback arrays from Auro 9.1 up to Auro 11.1 without the need for extra amplifiers.

Supporting all available high-resolution Audio formats, including Dolby True HD and DTS Master Audio, the Auriga™ combines in a single unit the best technologies in an elegant form designed for the discerning eye of the luxury residential customer. Its level of performance is unprecedented for a single chassis component and has only been achieved before through the use of multiple separate processors and power amplifiers. The result is in line with the StormAudio philosophy to bring superior Audio Electronics and entertainment experiences to the residential luxury market.

Yves Trelohan, COO of StormAudio comments: “We are very proud of the trust from Auro Technologies to choose us to design and manufacture the Auriga™. Our R&D and Manufacturing team has grabbed the challenge and have delivered probably the best product ever produced in that category”.
