Ozark Henry announces Auro-3D® immersive mix of Paramount

New album recorded with National Orchestra of Belgium

Brussels, Belgium, 16 January 2015 – Ozark Henry announces that his new album Paramount, recorded with the National Orchestra of Belgium, will include a stunning Auro-3D® mix alongside traditional stereo and 5.1 mixes. The Auro-3D® mix creates an exciting three-dimensional soundscape thanks to the addition of a Height layer above and around the listener. The immersive mix will be available on Pure Audio Blu-ray™, and is the first ever Auro-3D® disc for such a large symphony orchestra, bringing their rich, natural sound to life on Ozark Henry’s most ambitious project to date.

ozarkhenryOzark Henry’s collaboration with the National Orchestra of Belgium (NOB) is the first time that the orchestra has ever paid tribute to the repertoire of a non-classical artist. The NOB has asked Ozark Henry to curate a unique series of concerts in March 2015, reflecting his past, present, and future. The concerts will be conducted by Stefan Blunier, General Music Director of the City of Bonn, Chief Conductor of both the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and Bonn Opera.

Paramount was previewed at a press event at Bozar Brussels with an album play-back of the Auro-3D® mix, following a live performance by Ozark with the 90 piece National Orchestra of Belgium. Listeners will be able to hear the revolutionary audio mix for themselves using an Auro-3D® enabled AV receiver coupled with height speakers to create an amazing immersive experience. It will also be possible to play-back Paramount on-the-go thanks to the Auro-Headphones™ algorithm which allows 3D binaural reproduction over standard headphones.

Piet Goddaer, the voice behind Ozark Henry, stated,
‘When I first heard my songs performed by the fantastic musicians of the NOB, it felt as if this is their natural state, the way they were always meant to be. The challenge was how to capture this sound on a recording. Adding the third dimension with Auro-3D is the perfect solution. Now you can immerse yourself in the experience: just one man, one orchestra and Auro-3D.’

Wilfried Van Baelen, inventor of the Auro-3D® format and CEO of Auro Technologies, stated,
“Auro-3D® is the next generation in audio, and we are delighted that our most ambitious musical release today is of one of Belgium’s most innovative and inspiring artists, Ozark Henry. We’re convinced that the Auro-3D® mix is the closest that fans can get to experiencing Ozark and the National Orchestra of Belgium playing live in their front room. There will be more amazingly immersive music and film of all kinds in the coming months, whether through cinema, home cinema, mobile, or Auro-Headphones.”

The Auro-3D® mix was created by Ronald Prent at Wisseloord studios in the Netherlands, and was mastered by multi-Grammy award-winner Darcy Proper. Ronald commented,
“The combination of Piet’s voice and the 90 piece National Orchestra is emotionally so powerful that only an Auro-3D mix can do justice to the sound. Adding the missing dimension of height creates a cocoon of sound around the listener so you can truly appreciate this unique collaboration.’

The Auro-3D® format is the next generation in audio, and has already revolutionized cinema sound in cooperation with Auro Technologies’ partner Barco. The move from two-dimensional Stereo and Surround sound (5.1/7.1) formats to Auro-3D® is a break-through achieved by adding the missing dimension of “Height”, with an additional layer of speakers positioned 30° around the listener’s head, creating a vertical Stereo field around the listener. This can be virtually reproduced as well thanks to the Auro-HeadPhones™ algorithm.

This new sound format is the next generation in audio, marking an exciting leap forward from standard Stereo and Surround sound by adding the missing “Height” dimension around the audience, to create a natural 3D listening experience. Thanks to its backwards compatibility, Auro-3D® mixes of film or music are released on standard Blu-ray™ discs, and the Auro-Matic® upmixing engine also allows existing collections of music and film soundtracks to be rendered in 3D.
The Auro-3D® format will soon be available in many other consumer applications, with mobile, automotive, and gaming versions all bringing a new immersive and true 3D sound to the market very soon.
