AMSTERDAM, 4 February 2014 – Steinway Lyngdorf, leaders in high performance digital sound systems for home entertainment, and Auro Technologies have today announced a technology partnership agreement. The partnership will see the companies collaborate in the development of Steinway Lyngdorf processors incorporating the Auro-3D® immersive sound format. The new processors will make Auro-3D® available to the highly exclusive part of the home entertainment market.
The technology partnership agreement builds upon the Auro-3D® license agreement that the companies signed in January 2014. The partnership represents the latest step in bringing the Auro-3D® immersive sound out of the cinema, and into the consumer sector, with true 3D sound set to become one of the defining market trends in 2014.
“Our partnership with Auro Technologies enables a further strengthening of our uncompromising commitment to excellence in sound reproduction,” said Peter Lyngdorf, founder of Steinway Lyngdorf. “Our company helped pioneer Surround sound for many years. Auro-3D®’s unique vertical stereo field in front and around the listener creates the most natural sound reproduction I ever heard,” Peter says. “We have continually improved the listening experience and the Auro-3D® format matches perfectly our goal of delivering our customers the most compelling and immersive experience at their homes.”
“We are delighted to continue our expansion into the home theatre sector through this partnership with Steinway Lyngdorf. Working with a brand that has the heritage and stature of Steinway Lyngdorf enables us to provide home audiences with the ultimate Auro-3D® experience,” said Wilfried Van Baelen, CEO of Auro Technologies.
A hundred theaters in Indias southeastern state of Andhra Pradesh will soon be equipped with Auro 11.1 by Barco. The company is planning to install the first 25 systems before the year is out. Two postproduction and mixing facilities belonging to production house Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad will also install the certified Auro-3D® Studio System. Ramanaidu frequently collaborates with film production company Suresh Productions, a major player in the Telugu cinema industry, so this move is sure to revolutionise the market.
