Streaming of AURO-3D content can be experienced via the Artist Connection platform. Read More.
Playing Back Downloaded AURO-3D® Files
Downloadable files with AURO-3D content are typically provided as 5.1 or 7.1 FLAC files. Decoding the FLAC file then produces 6 or 8 channel PCM audio signals that are encoded with the Auro-Codec.
On PC
To playback and decode these files correctly, various media players for PC can be used, such as VLC Player or KODI.
When playing back the FLAC files using these players, it is important to make sure that the output of the player is sent to the HDMI output of the PC, and that this configured to play back 8 channels of 24 bit audio.
Also, make sure the HDMI output is set to use the correct sample rate for the content you which to play. If possible, avoid that any other sound (e.g. system sounds) is played through the same output and the all volume controls are set to 0 dB.
Connect the HDMI output of your PC to an AV-receiver equipped with an Auro-Codec decoder and enjoy the experience.
On BD-players
Various Blu-ray Disc players also have the ability to play back files from a USB drive or from a NAS via DLNA or uPNP. Make sure to check whether the BD Player is able to fully decode up to 8 channel FLAC files and output 24 bit. Many players only support up to 6 channels, or output only 16 bit audio. In such cases, a connected AURO-3D decoder will not work.
On Set-top Boxes
Various media players, such as VLC Player and KODI, are also available to run on a small settop box running Android TV, tvOS, FireTV, etc…
While most of the players are able to decode the FLAC files, proper decoding of the Auro-Codec encoded signal often will not work. This is because most devices, such as Chromecast sticks, can only handle stereo sound over HDMI, or only support 16 bit audio.
At this time, no combination of media players and OTT device are known to work properly. In case you run into a successful combination, send us a message, and we will indicate this is in this area.

The Android TV version of Artist Connection allows you to experience the full AURO-3D quality on AV-receivers, soundbars and other devices in all its glory.
Currently, the Nvidia Shield TV and Shield TV Pro media players are fully certified. Connect the HDMI output of the device to your AURO-3D equipped home audio device and enjoy.
(Note: currently only fully functional for Auro-Codec encoded content at 96 kHz sampling rate. Other sampling rates will be supported in the near future.)
